Coronavirus

The health and safety of our TPA students, staff and families is our top priority. In light of the ongoing developments and publicity related to the Novel Coronavirus we are providing a link Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for detailed information pertaining to this unique virus. While the Public Health Department has reaffirmed that our risk in the Bay Area is low, we continue to work closely under their direction and guidance and will provide updates if changes occur.
The Phillips Academy will be following the direction of the Public Health Office with any public health outbreaks affecting schools.
Please visit the CDC website for detailed information:
Staff will continue to monitor the information being provided by government agencies and update our communications to our families and staff as necessary.
National, state, and county officials continue to emphasize that the risk of contracting the coronavirus in the Bar Area (and indeed throughout the United States) is still considered low. Those officials have repeatedly stated that the best way to contain the disease is to practice the same health habits used to avoid the spread of any type of respiratory viruses this time of year, including:
-
Getting a flu vaccination (i.e., a "flu shot")
-
Washing hands frequently
-
Covering your nose and/or mouth with your arm or a tissue when you sneeze or cough
-
Clean surfaces routinely
-
Avoid touching your face, particularly your eyes, nose, and mouth
-
Keeping your children at home when they are ill, especially if they have a fever
-
Avoiding close contact with others who are ill.
